be a real problem of constant pain and inflammation, when walking or when they conflict with shoes. This type of rose-tipped bone growths can be surgically removed, and thus solve the pain.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Spurs are nothing more than a calcification that produces a sharp bone excrescence on the calcaneus, the lower part of the heel bone. The main cause is usually a plantar fasciitis that has become chronic, due to late diagnosis or inadequate treatment. This is because the body builds up calcium in the damaged areas to restore the tissue. Some of the causes of plantar fasciitis and, consequently, of spurs can be: age, overweight or obesity, excessive sports gestures or intense sports practice (especially running, handball or basketball), using inadequate footwear, flat feet, overloading the tendons, spending long periods standing.<\/p><p>The most common symptoms are pain in the heel and the sensation of stepping on a nail. This pain is more intense with the first steps of the morning and, although it calms down with rest, it reappears after resting the foot on the floor or after sporting activity. If the patient&#8217;s job is to carry weight, it can aggravate the pain. The spur can be diagnosed with a lateral x-ray of the calcaneus, where a bump towards the toes is recognized and can vary between 1 and 5 mm.
